Brackets (front and/or back teeth) and Bands (back teeth) have been placed in your mouth to straighten your teeth to the best position possible.

You must brush your teeth at home and at school (if possible) to avoid gum irritation and cavities with the special orthodontic toothbrush as advised.

If your braces make your teeth sore, this will last only two or three days. Your parents may give you the medication prescribed for this problem if needed. Only eat soft foods during this time.

If your braces rub against your lips, you have been shown how to place wax on your brackets to stop the rubbing and apply the ointment on sore area as prescribed.

It is advised not to chew on pens, pencils, hairpins, or other hard objects.

If a bracket or band comes out, wire breaks, or an elastic comes off, do not throw it off or try to fix it yourself; call our center as soon as possible.

Make sure you brush your teeth prior to every appointment.

Poor cooperation or carelessness will lengthen the treatment time and may eventually add unnecessary expense. Let's work together to attain the best possible result.

You will have to wear your braces for the length of time we have suggested to your parents. If you do your part as we ask, then we should finish your treatment on time.

Foods to avoid with braces

Our goal is to provide you with a beautiful smile. This can only be accomplished if the braces stay attached to your teeth. We do not want to interfere with your nutritional intake, but we do ask that you watch the type of foods you eat. Some type of foods are capable of breaking your bands or brackets or bending your wires. All these things prolong treatment time.
